2021 was quite a year! For one thing, we could travel again. In January, our members who had been stateside were allowed to return to their locations in unreached communities. Some members remained overseas and lived through quarantines and political unrest alongside their neighbors. With the coming of 2021, business plans went forward and contracts began in earnest.
When business is happening, that is when MDE shines. Our model of “serving those who make money and make disciples in unreached communities” is not just a slogan. This year we were privileged to begin serving many new members. Let us introduce you to three of them.
SOUTH ASIA
J served in South Asia for eight years and knew the opportunities for sharing the gospel in the manufacturing industry. His former sending agency had seen that business visas were desirable but struggled to validate the amount of time J needed to make the business a success. This would lead to a parting of ways. At the end of 2020, J found MDE through the recommendation of Radius International. He discovered that MDE would help him grow a business and provide accountability and coaching, all with a goal of seeing churches planted among the unreached. J’s business is at the launch stage. J asks for prayer that the business would grow, for the finances to hire additional employees, and for discernment in where to prioritize his time.
SOUTHEASTERN EUROPE
The A family has lived in Southeastern Europe since 2015. Their location is one of ethnic unrest, and that keeps them on their knees. JA is a startup founder specializing in innovative cleantech and Medtech systems dedicated to saving lives on a global scale. Most of JA’’s employees are “cousins.” In 2021 he reached out to MDE, as his company was going from 4 employees to 10 employees. A large medical company in America was moving to contract, and JA needed contract review and IT business management expertise on his side. It has been thrilling to watch JA’s business grow, understanding the lives that will be impacted by their products and business’ success.
UNITED KINGDOM
The KC Counseling center serves clients that would otherwise have limited access to high-quality counseling, because of economic, linguistic or cultural barriers. Initially started to serve those from a South Asian background, the counseling center serves those in the United Kingdom and ten other countries through virtual appointments. In 2021, KC Counseling approached MDE because they needed help developing the business side of their operations. MDE has provided highly skilled business advisors and pastoral care. KC Counseling sees counseling as a key way to serve a world in need. They want to see thousands of people from all faith backgrounds experience the love of Christ through highly skilled, cross-culturally adept, compassionate counselors who will walk with their clients through dark times.
Each one of our members comes to us with a unique set of circumstances and needs rising from their business focus, stage, country, and the member’s experience and knowledge. Sometimes potential members ask us “What are your services?’ We answer them by asking them to tell us about their business and what they need.
“From the first meeting, Mark was more interested in what I wanted to do, as opposed to how I would fit into his program. I really enjoyed the personal investment that I got from MDE. That permeates throughout the entire group, whether it’s a mentor or Mark, himself. Everybody is interested in investing in what you’re doing. It’s obvious they want us to be successful.”
