As our days shorten here in the northern hemisphere, our hearts are illuminated by the light of Advent. We anticipate His coming during this season as we light the candles of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love in our churches each Sunday. The Apostle reminds us:
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:5)
Our MDE members have worked diligently this year to build and grow BAM ventures and to be faithful marketplace workers in some of the darker places around the globe. In settings where proclaiming the words of hope and peace may not be possible, the glow of the joy and love of the newborn Messiah shines brightly–through their work and their business leadership–for all to see.
Likewise, our corps of MDE volunteers have played the lead supporting role–with a front-row seat–on the resulting transformation. Their generous time and use of their gifts have added fuel to spread the flame. Finally, our committed donors have sustained MDE, allowing us to serve our members and volunteers.
2023 has been an active and rewarding year for MDE. We started the year working internally to improve our operations in preparation for growth. And the Lord has indeed now blessed us with 6 new members in recent months. Additionally, we will be onboarding a significant block of BAM members in January, pursuant to a new partnership with a missions organization. They have asked MDE to become the BAM services provider for their workers with business ventures. Organizations like this are realizing that the specialized business support services MDE provides are now a necessity for their marketplace workers. We anticipate this trend will be a major growth engine for MDE in the next few years.
