Missional Mentor
Position Description
MDE mentors play a crucial role in fulfilling the mission of MDE towards its membership, empowering and equpping them to make money and make disciples in the unreached “marketplaces” of the world.
Both BAMers and DMEers are matched with a mentor who will then guide, encourage, and pray for them in regard to their mission, discipleship efforts, and their own physical, emotional, and spiritual health. The Mentor will coach the member in setting personal development goals and disciple-making goals.
Because MDE offers a wide array of services, mentors also help members think through and connect to the right resources. In this way, Mentors are a vital link between the member and MDE. Mentors report to the MDE Mentor Director, providing monthly updates about the mentoring relationship and the member.
For this role, we seek mature followers of Christ with experience in coaching, mentoring, or discipling others. They have some experience in cross-cultural living, can offer support and encouragement through active listening, and are willing to work with MDE to enhance their mentoring skills. Mentors are committed to growing their relationship with our Lord and making disciples.
Time Commitment
The initial mentoring process takes 4-5 hours to establish a good relationship, set personal development goals, and discuss strategies for making disciples in the member’s context. After this, the Mentor will meet once a month for an hour or so via Zoom or an equivalent platform. Allowing time for prayer, preparation, and review, this volunteer position will typically require a commitment of 1-2 hours per month.
